The National Testing Agency (NTA) has announced that it is fully prepared to conduct the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test Undergraduate (NEET UG) 2026 Re-Examination on June 21, 2026. The examination will be held in pen-and-paper mode from 2:00 PM to 5:15 PM.Candidates with disabilities who are eligible for compensatory time will be allowed to write the examination until 6:20 PM.According to NTA, the re-examination will be conducted across 551 cities in India and 14 cities abroad for more than 22.79 lakh candidates.
Massive arrangements made for smooth conduct
To ensure the examination is conducted smoothly, NTA has mobilised more than 2 lakh personnel across the country.The arrangements include:
- 674 City Coordinators overseeing city-level operations
- 6,669 Observers deployed at examination centres
- Centre Superintendents and Invigilators at every exam centre
- Support from district administrations, police forces and escort teams for the secure transportation of confidential materials
- Multi-layered security measures in place
The agency has introduced several security measures to ensure a fair and transparent examination process.These include:
- Secure handling and transportation of confidential examination materials
- GPS-enabled vehicles with police escort for movement of exam-related materials
- CCTV surveillance at all examination centres
- Mandatory frisking before entry into examination centres
- Aadhaar-based biometric authentication to prevent impersonation
- Real-time monitoring through centralised control systems
NTA has also stated that it is actively monitoring social media platforms to curb misinformation and malpractice. Complaints have been filed with cybercrime authorities, including the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre (I4C), Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), and the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), against those involved in spreading false information.
Special provisions for biometric verification issues
NTA has clarified that candidates will not be denied entry if biometric verification cannot be completed due to technical problems, poor fingerprint quality, connectivity issues or physical limitations.Such candidates will be required to submit a written undertaking and undergo manual identity verification using valid documents before being allowed to take the examination.
Facilities available at examination centres
The agency has directed all examination centres to provide necessary facilities for candidates, including:
- Reliable power backup and generators
- Adequate lighting and fans
- Wall clocks inside examination rooms
- Drinking water and sanitation facilities
- On-site medical support
Candidates will also be allowed to carry a transparent water bottle. Diabetic candidates may carry sugar tablets and fruits such as banana, apple or orange along with a transparent water bottle as per NTA guidelines.
Reporting time and entry guidelines
Candidates must report to their examination centres between 11:00 AM and 1:30 PM.The entry gates will close sharply at 1:30 PM, and no candidate will be allowed to enter the examination centre after that time under any circumstances.Candidates wearing customary or religious attire, as well as those wearing full sleeves or woollen clothing, have been advised to reach the centre early to complete security checks on time.

Candidates must bring the following documents to the examination centre:
- Printed copy of the
NEET UG 2026 admit card - One original valid photo identity proof
- Two passport-size photographs for attendance purposes
Candidates are also advised to verify the exact address of their examination centre from the admit card and not rely solely on map applications.
Important instructions for candidates
NTA has advised candidates to:
- Reach the examination centre well before the reporting time
- Follow the prescribed dress code and examination guidelines
- Carry only permitted items
- Avoid believing rumours or unverified claims related to question paper leaks
- Report suspicious messages or social media posts to authorities immediately
The agency has reminded candidates that mobile phones, smart watches, Bluetooth devices, calculators, wallets, jewellery, metallic accessories and food packets are not permitted inside the examination hall.
