The Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA) has officially launched the process for the first round of the Karnataka UGCET 2026 counselling procedure by launching the option entry portal that thousands of students are vying for seats in fields ranging from engineering and agriculture to veterinary science and nursing, physiotherapy, and many others.For those who passed the Undergraduate Common Entrance Test (UGCET), the next few days may not only decide their college but also their career and academic future. Now that the option entry process is live, it gives an opportunity to the students to select their colleges in rank order before the first round of allotment takes place.
Option entry window open till June 30
As per the schedule made public by KEA, the process of option entry starts from 11:30 AM on June 20 and will continue till June 30, 2026, at 10 AM. The eligible candidates during this time will have the ability to log in to the official portal and select their preferences according to their interests, ranks, categories, and career objectives.In the meantime, those candidates who had taken the NEET exam in 2026 have been notified that their option entry process will commence on June 22. The counselling process is considered one of the most significant processes in the whole process of admission.

Mock allotment to offer a reality check
The most significant milestone in the counselling procedure will be the mock allotment result that is expected on July 6. The mock allotment is just an exercise that lets you know your position considering the preferences that you have selected.Students who are not happy with the result can change their approach. KEA has opened a period from the afternoon of July 6 to the morning of July 9 for making modifications to your choices.It is suggested by many experts that you should take full advantage of this period of mock allotment as this will let you analyze the competition trends at this level.
Verification slip mandatory for participation
KEA has also enabled the option of downloading verification slips. This is a mandatory document for being able to participate in the process of online counseling and allotment of seats.If students fail to get verified or check their documents, then they might face problems while moving on to other steps in admission procedures. It is advisable for students to ensure that all credentials and verification have been done correctly.
