Big dogs are often assumed to be difficult or risky around children, but many giant breeds are known for their calm, patient and affectionate nature. Often called “gentle giants,” these dogs can be wonderful family companions and may be remarkably tolerant of the energetic behaviour of young children. However, their size also comes with certain responsibilities, including the need for adequate space, higher food expenses, regular exercise and proper training. Families in India should also consider how well a breed can adapt to the local climate, particularly during hot and humid weather.
