New international trailer of Ranbir Kapoor's 'Ramayana', says 'Lord Ram is not God but a man', the film is set to release worldwide on November 5

Ranbir Kapoor-starrer ‘Ramayana’ is gearing up for a major international push on Thursday, October 15, as Sony Pictures International prepares to roll out the film’s second trailer, weeks before its worldwide release. While the makers have already held promotional events in Los Angeles, the upcoming launch marks the formal beginning of the film’s global campaign by Sony Pictures, which acquired its worldwide distribution rights earlier this year. The first trailer, featuring Ranbir Kapoor, Sai Pallavi and Yash, was unveiled in July.A longer television spot released on Wednesday has already offered audiences a glimpse of Kunal Kapoor as Indra, the king of gods, riding his celestial mount Airavata. The sequence shows him confronting Ravana, played by Yash, who strikes the divine elephant and sends it crashing to the ground. “Before me, every head will bow,” Ravana declares in the promo. The TV spot also features a voiceover that sets the stage for the epic battle between good and evil. “In a time when men walked among gods, and evil rose from the darkness — Ravana — humanity had one hope. Not a God, but a man — Rama,” the narration says. Ranbir’s voice, as Rama, is then heard saying, “If I don’t stop him, the world will fall. This is just the beginning.” The makers have not yet announced the exact release time for the second trailer.Sony Pictures shared a promotional video on its official X handle on Wednesday, confirming that the trailer would arrive on Thursday. Titled ‘Ramayana: The Rise of a Legend’ for international audiences, the promo features Rama taking on a gigantic beast in a forest with his arrows.Alongside the international campaign, the makers are preparing for a grand trailer launch in Bengaluru, Yash’s home turf. The first trailer was unveiled at a high-profile event in New Delhi earlier this year. The upcoming Bengaluru event is expected to bring together Yash, Ranbir, Sai Pallavi, director Nitesh Tiwari and producer Namit Malhotra, along with other members of the cast and crew.Malhotra shared a note on X on Wednesday, explaining the vision behind taking the Indian epic to international audiences.“When we set out to make Ramayana, our dream was always to take one of India’s greatest stories to the world. Tomorrow, that dream takes another big step forward. Sony Pictures begins its international campaign for Ramayana, introducing this timeless story to audiences across the globe, many of whom will discover it for the very first time,” he wrote. He further emphasised the significance of presenting an Indian story on a global cinematic platform. “For a film born in India to be presented to the world on the scale of a global cinematic event is something we as Indians are very proud of. Our truth, our history, from India to the world. Jai Shri Ram,” the note concluded. The message was signed by Malhotra, Tiwari and Yash, who is also backing the film as a co-producer through his banner, Monster Mind Creations.Meanwhile, a Mid-Day report states that the makers are seeking the necessary permissions to organise a special screening of ‘Ramayana’ for political leaders at Rashtrapati Bhavan in New Delhi. The proposed screening is expected to coincide with the film’s worldwide release on November 5.
