Ranbir Kapoor’s ‘Ramayana’ receives ‘U’ certificate in India; here’s the runtime and official synopsis

‘Ramayana‘, starring Ranbir Kapoor, Yash and Sai Pallavi, is all set to release in theatres worldwide on November 5. Arriving just ahead of Diwali, Nitesh Tiwari’s mythological drama brings the epic tale of good versus evil to audiences across the globe. Now, the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has cleared the film with a certificate, and its official website shows the censorship process was completed today, October 30.

‘Ramayana’ runtime and official synopsis

According to the CBFC official website, ‘Ramayana’ has received a ‘U’ certificate, and the censor board has listed its runtime as 195 minutes, or 3 hours and 15 minutes. Details of any visual cuts have not been made official yet. The CBFC website carries the film’s official synopsis, which reads, “When Rakshasa emperor Ravana, invincible to all but man, conquers the three worlds, Lord Vishnu descends as noble prince Rama. Bound by his father’s vow, Rama enters perilous exile with virtuous Sita and devoted Lakshmana. When Ravana abducts Sita, God in human form rises to fight the greatest war ever.”

‘Ramayana’ 3D release and ‘Godzilla Minus Zero’ delay

‘Ramayana’ is headed for an IMAX 3D release in India, and the knock-on effect is that ‘Godzilla Minus Zero’ has reportedly been rescheduled to November 20 in the country. Indian theatres are said to be reserving their IMAX screens mainly for Ramayana, and because IMAX shows and screens are in limited supply, the ‘Godzilla’ film was shifted to a later date. There has been no response yet from the adventure film’s Indian marketing team on the speculation.

‘Ramayana’ cast, formats and languages

Helmed by Nitesh Tiwari, ‘Ramayana’ also stars includes Sunny Deol, Ravi Dubey, Rakul Preet Singh, Arun Govil, Lara Dutta and several others. The film opens in 2D, 3D, IMAX 3D, 4DX 3D and 3D Screen X formats, across Hindi, Tamil, Kannada, Telugu, Malayalam and English.

Do you think the runtime of 195 minutes is too long for a movie?
