No Starc, Cummins or Hazlewood in squad as Australia name several new faces for England series

Australia have named several new faces in their white-ball squads for the upcoming series against England, with young fast bowler Mahli Beardman and allrounders Jack Edwards and Liam Scott among those receiving call-ups.Batting prospects Ollie Peake and Jake Fraser-McGurk have also been included, along with wicketkeepers Lachlan Shaw and Sam Harper. Mitchell Marsh will captain both the ODI and T20I teams.“These ODI and T20 matches provide several players, many of whom have had opportunities on recent tours, with a great chance to further demonstrate their ability against very strong opposition,” said chairman of selectors George Bailey.Beardman, Peake, Edwards, Scott, Nikhil Chaudhary and Joel Davies have made their white-ball debuts in recent times. Shaw and Harper are the only uncapped players in the squads.“They are good examples of players who have had an opportunity at the international level and have continued working on their game from what they learnt from those experiences,” added Bailey.Australia will play three ODIs against England at home from November 13 to 18, followed by a five-match T20I series. The matches will give the next generation of Australian players an opportunity to make a case for selection ahead of the 2027 ODI World Cup, which will be held in South Africa, Zimbabwe and Namibia. With a home Test series against New Zealand coming up, fast bowlers Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc and Josh Hazlewood have been rested from the white-ball squads. The trio featured in Australia’s 2-1 Test series defeat in South Africa.Travis Head, Alex Carey, Matt Renshaw, Josh Inglis, Cooper Connolly and Cameron Green have been named in the ODI squad but will not feature in the T20Is.After the New Zealand series, Australia will travel to India for a five-Test series. That will be followed by a 150th anniversary Test against England in Melbourne and an Ashes campaign.“We are in the middle of a highly demanding phase of our schedule,” said Bailey, referring to Australia’s Test players.“To manage this workload, each player’s build-up to the New Zealand series will be carefully planned and focussed on individual’s physical and mental preparation.”
