The proposal was submitted under the Centre’s Prime Minister’s e-Drive scheme, which focuses on promoting green mobility and accelerating the adoption of electric vehicles. Officials believe that this move will play a key role in improving the state’s EV ecosystem and addressing one of the biggest concerns for buyers: charging availability.City-wise, Jaipur will get the highest number of charging stations at 112, followed by Ajmer with 49, Udaipur with 39 and Kota with 28. In addition, 34 charging stations will be set up along highways to support intercity travel. All installations will be carried out on land owned by government departments, ensuring faster execution of the project.Authorities say the expansion of charging infrastructure will make long-distance EV travel more convenient while also improving access within cities. The initiative is expected to encourage more people to switch to electric vehicles, reduce dependence on fossil fuels and contribute to lowering carbon emissions in the region. Inputs from PTI.
