RBI Assistant recruitment 2026: The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has released the official notification for the recruitment of Assistants, announcing 650 vacancies across its offices in India. The recruitment will be conducted through a country-wide competitive examination.The registration window opened yesterday, February 16, 2026. Eligible candidates can apply online only through the official RBI website, www.rbi.org.in. Applications sent through any other mode will not be accepted.Important dates for interested candidates:

A total of 650 Assistant posts have been announced across multiple RBI offices such as Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Bhopal, Chandigarh, Chennai, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Jammu, Kanpur & Lucknow, Kolkata, Mumbai, Nagpur, New Delhi, Patna, and Thiruvananthapuram.The Bank may increase or decrease the number of vacancies depending on requirements.

RBI Assistant recruitment 2026: Eligibility criteria

Applicants must be:

  • A citizen of India, or
  • A subject of Nepal or Bhutan, or
  • A Tibetan refugee who came to India before January 1, 1962, or
  • A person of Indian origin who migrated from specified countries with the intention of permanently settling in India (with eligibility certificate issued by the Government of India).

Age limit (as on February 1, 2026):

  • Minimum age: 20 years
  • Maximum age: 28 years
  • Candidates must have been born between February 2, 1998 and February 1, 2006 (both dates inclusive)

Educational qualifications: Candidates must have:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in any discipline with at least 50% marks (pass class for SC/ST/PwBD candidates).
  • Knowledge of word processing on computer.
  • Proficiency in the local language of the state or region applied for (reading, writing, speaking, and understanding).
  • For Ex-servicemen, graduation from a recognised university or equivalent qualification is required after at least 15 years of defence service.

RBI Assistant recruitment 2026: Selection process

The selection will be conducted in three stages:

  • Preliminary Examination
  • Main Examination
  • Language Proficiency Test (LPT)

The Language Proficiency Test will be conducted in the official or local language of the concerned state. Candidates who are not proficient in that language will be disqualified.

RBI Assistant recruitment 2026: Exam pattern

Below is the exam pattern according to the official notification released. Preliminary Examination

  • English Language – 30 questions (30 marks)
  • Numerical Ability – 35 questions (35 marks)
  • Reasoning Ability – 35 questions (35 marks)
  • Total: 100 questions, 100 marks
  • Duration: 60 minutes

Main Examination

  • Reasoning – 40 questions (40 marks)
  • English Language – 40 questions (40 marks)
  • Numerical Ability – 40 questions (40 marks)
  • General Awareness – 40 questions (40 marks)
  • Computer Knowledge – 40 questions (40 marks)
  • Total: 200 questions, 200 marks
  • There will be negative marking for wrong answers in both exams.

  3. Register as a new user to generate a provisional registration number and password.
  4. Fill in personal, educational, and other required details carefully.
  5. Upload photograph, signature, and required documents as per specifications.
  6. Pay the application fee online.
  7. Click on “Complete Registration” and submit the form.
  8. Take a printout of the submitted application for future reference.
