In the 1980s, Kurt Russell chose to move to a Colorado ranch
At the peak of his career, Russell felt that he could not live in the city for long and officially made the decision to move to his Colorado ranch full-time. He was a mere 26-year-old who wanted to make the big shift, and thankfully, Hawn was right by his side through everything. While talking to Fox News in an old interview, Russell commented, “What I enjoy most is that she really likes it in Colorado.” He further shared that his son Wyatt Russell, Wyatt’s wife Meredith Hagner, and their two boys also live there. “We like to spend as much time there as we can. I’d like to be there more. There’s a different kind of life there,” he further explained.Earlier this year, while in conversation with PEOPLE, Russell further added, “What I want to look at, what I want to be a part of—all the things that Colorado has to offer. I wanted to eventually get into the ranching life. When Goldie and I got together, a couple of years later, we both built a ranch there together, where our family has grown up. That was 40 years ago.”

Denver Post reported that the two own approximately 70 acres of land in Colorado, between two adjoining properties that are located in Aspen and Snowmass, respectively. Hawn specifically owns the 2,700-square-foot guesthouse on the land, while Russell owns the 6,500-square-foot main residence that consists of eight bedrooms. The home features a rustic, cosy interior that is centred around a massive stone fireplace, exposed timber beams, and large windows with stunning mountain views. The two have still managed to add their own personal touches to the home to create a more comfortable living space for themselves. The house is also filled with large floor-to-ceiling windows that fill the cabin with natural light all day long.
A getaway space for Princess Diana and her children
Russell’s home is not only his own haven but also a haven for the people around him. One of the most famous people who took advantage of his mountain home and stayed there for a quiet getaway was none other than the late Princess Diana! In 2016, the ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2’ star appeared on ‘The Late Late Show with James Corden,’ and shared that he once had an interesting experience sitting with royalty for a premiere show for his own film.He commented, “I did a movie called Backdraft that there was a royal premiere of in London, and I sat between Lady Di and Prince Charles, which was an interesting experience at the time.” He added that during the evening, he and Princess Diana talked a lot about things, with one of the main topics being the paparazzi and wanting some privacy away from the life of a public figure. He had mentioned to her at the time that his Colorado home could be a great getaway for her.The royalty took him up on his offer and stayed in his and Hawn’s home for 10 days. He shared, “Years later… Diana wanted to go with the boys, and so they were welcome, and they came and stayed for 10 days at the ranch. They had a great time.” He concluded, “It was great because our housekeeper, Bonnie, became very close with her.
